The Data Is Needed Where the Infrastructure Is Not

A permanent installation follows the funding, and the funding follows evidence. Which means the camera or the counter has to go up first, in the place that has nothing, to produce the case for building anything there at all.

Most public realm questions are temporary by their nature. A junction under review, a boundary out to consultation, a hotspot in a park that follows the school holidays, a layby that collects tipping until somebody watches it. Fixed infrastructure answers a permanent question, and this is not one.

By the time a lamppost position has been surveyed, powered, permitted and connected, the study window has usually closed. A platform that arrives on a trailer and stands up in 15 minutes keeps the measurement inside the decision it was meant to inform.

Run the Pilot on the Platform, Then Build What the Data Justifies

A pilot should not decide your supplier for the next decade. The mast top is a four spoke plate carrying 60 kg with double cabling inside the mast and an IP66 patch box in the cabinet, so cameras, counters, air quality sensors, IoT gateways and antennas from whichever framework supplier the authority already holds all mount directly.

When the pilot ends, the platform moves to the next position in the programme rather than becoming a stranded asset. Forklift slots on four sides and lifting eyes mean that takes minutes, and the galvanised steel enclosure stays serviceable long after the electronics inside it are due for replacement.

The steel is 100 percent recyclable, production runs on renewable energy and heat is recovered during galvanisation, which supports UN Sustainable Development Goal 11 on sustainable cities alongside goals 7, 8 and 12 in your own reporting.

The cabinet is an empty lockable steel volume and the mast top is a plain four spoke plate. Whatever the authority already specifies goes in and on it, and comes back off at the end of the pilot.
