No, and the difference is the point. A traditional lighting tower arrives as a finished machine: fixed luminaires, an engine, a fuel tank and a trailer, all chosen by whoever built it. You fit the luminaires, the control gear and the power source that suit the job, and you upgrade them without replacing the tower. For a rental firm or an integrator, that is the difference between reselling somebody else’s machine and building your own.

Take it seriously early, because it is the complaint that stops night working. Three things fix most of it: aim down from height rather than across from low level, shield and specify the optic properly, and switch to a curfew profile at the right hour. A mobile platform adds a fourth option that a fixed column does not have, which is to move the light somewhere less contentious in an afternoon.
