In the UK an Ofcom Shared Access licence covers 3.8 to 4.2 GHz from around 80 pounds per 10 MHz a year at a rural location, with a medium power licence authorising a single base station. In Germany the Bundesnetzagentur allocates 3.7 to 3.8 GHz for local networks on application, priced from a published formula that starts at 1,000 euros. In the Netherlands the RDI issues 3400 to 3450 MHz and 3750 to 3800 MHz for a site bound network. Paperwork you can plan around.<\/p>\n<p>What you cannot plan around is the location itself. A temporary site has no structure, no power and nothing you are allowed to bolt into. Mid band radio is close to line of sight, so every foot of antenna height is coverage you get for free and every foot you give up is coverage you have to buy back with another cell. A radio strapped to a fence post or a container roof gives you neither the height nor a position you can reproduce next week when the container moves.<\/p>\n<p>And a temporary network has to leave again. A permanent mast means a planning application, a foundation and a civil works bill for coverage that already has an end date written on it.
